The Declaration of Independence is a pro-immigrant document.  Among the complaints against the royal monarchy:

“He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.”

As we near Independence Day, it ought be recognized that today’s actions and rallies are undertaken in the best spirit of American patriotism.  People looking to work for and love this country in gratitude and loyalty ought be seen as assets, not assumed criminals.  The “common man” carries the hope of peace among the brethren, but we must recognize the commonality of love for life and family as the shared foundation of true liberty and happiness.
